For this house in Peckham, we undertook a complete design overhaul, culminating in a striking ground floor rear extension. By leveraging an existing tall boundary wall and the adjacent house, we created a unique stepped architectural form that enhances natural light and elevates the interior space.

This contemporary addition to a Victorian terrace transformed the living area by introducing height and brightness, replacing the outdated single-storey outrigger. We retained and internal lightwell between the extension and existing rear wall of the house and repositioned the stairs leading to the living space to optimize the layout and maximize the feeling of light and openness.

The contemporary zinc roof gracefully steps down between the two boundaries, providing a visual contrast against the traditional stock brick. Our holistic approach included both architectural and interior design, ensuring a cohesive upgrade throughout the home.

To maintain a consistent aesthetic, we installed a contemporary pale oak floor across all levels and re-clad the staircase in matching oak. Collaborating closely with our clients, we crafted spaces that reflect their personal style, resulting in a harmonious blend of modern design and welcoming comfort. This extension not only enhances functionality but also elevates the character of the home, creating an inviting and inspiring environment.
