The Coach House

This new large extension for our clients in Weybridge creates a new open plan family space leading out from their beautiful traditional property. The young family can now enjoy cooking and being together with views and direct access to their wonderful garden.

We worked with rather than against the existing sharp level changes at the site to create an open plan space where the kitchen and dining leads down to a double height open plan living space.

Rhythm is created by the repeating tall Crittall style doors stepping across the back of the house. The extra tall doors in the double height space coupled with repeating rooflights bring in a huge amount of natural light. The regular structural grid, including the beams in the roof of the open plan were included as nature to maximise the height of the ceiling in between and also created an element of texture and interest across the ceiling.

Complimentary interior design throughout the rest of the space creates an overall contemporary but welcoming home.

We worked closely with the client to design the kitchen drawing inspiration from various features and styles seen in other projects including a bold coloured hand painted finish, ribbed glass fronted cupboard and brass accents. We Utilised what would otherwise be wasted space by creating clever storage under the floor at the change in level, this allows a quick and easy solution to clearing away the children’s and dog toys at the end of the day (a must for effective open plan living!).
